This is a reconditioned power tool. Reconditioned generally means that the tool has been returned to the manufacturer, who brings the tool back to like new condition. Some tools may contain cosmetic blemishes. Featuring a 1-3/4 max HP (11 Amp, 24,000 RPM) Milwaukee motor, these powerful and precise new routers give you the upper hand in all but the heaviest of cuts. The BodyGrip design is a comfortable, over-molded rubber grip, wrapped around the base with an adjustable hand strap that allows for left and right-handle operation, and 2 over-molded palm-grip side handles for superior comfort, maneuverability and control. The exclusive linear depth adjustment features a large steel motor lock lever and depth adjustment gearing via a durable threaded screw integral to the motor itself. Both coarse and microfine adjustments are fast and accurate. The router sub-base includes a special access hole for a common 3/8-inch hex extension wrench for above-the-table depth adjustments – ideal for router table applications and eliminating the nuisance of reaching beneath table to set the cutter (or bit) height. This revolutionary system simplifies this once tedious process required with other designs, and ensures that the switch and cord remain in the same optimal location. The Milwaukee 5615-81 1-3/4 Max HP BodyGrip Router Kit features an impact-resistant carrying case with heavy-duty metal hinges, comfortable free-swinging handle, and on-board wrench and collet storage. Someone had engraved a number on the red plastic top just below the height adjustment knob. I have a hard time believing that and I can only visualize catastrophe if the piece of metal meets the 24000rpm armature.I've owned other Milwaukee tools and have been impressed with the quality and durability. The description and product photo makes it seem like the item is in like-new condition or nearly so which it's not.
I can see it from the cooling vents when I turn the unit upside down. At best, this unit was dusted off and put back in the box. There is a note inside the case saying that the unit has been mechanically tested and inspected.
I bought a reconditioned 5615-81 router from Tool King. All of these are cosmetic and do not effect tool function, however the most disturbing and disappointing problem is that there is a loose piece of metal rattling around inside the motor housing. Being reconditioned, it only carries a 1-year factory warranty versus 5-years if bought new.
The case and manual are grimy and there were dings and scratches on the tool housing. There are scratches and pits on the machined portion of the housing.
Light, powerful, and controlable, I just love it. I have 12 routers, from 1 hp to 3 1/2 hp. This router will do just about anything, and is to easy to use.
